Enfield Aquatic Centre is proudly a Gold AUSTSWIM recognised centre and operates seven days a week offering quality swimming instruction designed to develop students confidence, aquatic skills and water safety.

Our Learn to Swim program provides safe, healthy and fun swimming programs suitable for infants, children and adults of all abilities with a range of class types and levels. 

All swimming classes are graded according to skill level and age with lessons being conducted in both our new state of the art Program pool and heated Indoor 25m pool. 

Please note, during Learn to Swim periods there will be no public use or recreation permitted in the Program Pool to avoid disruption to lessons and class areas.

Assessments Appointments 

If you require an appointment for a Programs Assessment, please make a booking via the above link. 

Please note that bookings are limited to a maximum of 2 students and a responsible Adult must come prepared to enter the water for the Assessment. 

Students not currently enrolled in the program who are over the age of 5 and have had previous swimming experience in a structured class will be required to complete an assessment.

If the student is under the age of 5 and has had no swimming experience in a structured class no assessment is required.

 

EAC Online Booking Portal Unavailable 

Due to a series of system errors being experienced with our Online Booking Portal, our Enfield Aquatic Centre team have had to make the difficult decision to disable use of online services. 

For the remainder of the Term 2 2023 enrolment period and Term 3 2023, all programs enrolments will need to be booked by a member of the team by visiting the centre.

To confirm, bookings and payments cannot be processed over the phone or via email. 

We apologise for the understandable inconvienced caused by reverting back to manual booking processes during this time. 

Our team are working closely with our software provides for potenital resoultions in order to restore our online capabilities and will provide update once this occurs.

Parents and infants are introduced to fundamental water safety and learning skills to assist with their development.

Classes introduce water familiarisation, floating and submersion skills through various interactive water play and repetitive exercises tailored to infants developmental milestones.

Classes have a maximum of 10 students and run for 30 minutes.

No assessment is required to book for Infant levels.

Levels:

Tadpoles

6 months - 12 months old. This level is a parent and baby class. 

Frogs

12 months - 24 months old. This level is a parent and baby class. 

Super Frogs

24 months - 36 months old. This level is a parent and baby class. 

 

Turtles (3 years to 4 years)

This class is a transition between water familiarisation and learn to swim.

Turtles will be introduced to basic skills to assist with their swimming development, including floating, kicking, blowing bubbles, and submersion.

Whilst this class aims to introduce basic skills without parental support, it is expected that parents may need to attend some classes.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students. 

No assessment is required to book for this level.

Turtles Skills:

1.  Enter and exit the water safely. May be assisted.

2.  Hold on to the pool edge, moving along with assistance.

3.  Front float with arms resting on instructor’s shoulders.

4.  Back float with head resting on instructors shoulders.

5.  Blow bubbles on the surface with face submerged.

6.  Front torpedo from platform to instructor. (2m)


Seahorse (4 years to 5 years)

This level aims to develop confidence, mobility and independence in the water.

Seahorses develop basic water skills to assist with their swimming development, including floating, kicking, blowing bubbles and submersion whilst encouraging minimal adjustment and assistance.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students. 

No assessment is required to book for this level.

Seahorse Skills:

1.  Enter and exit the water safely from seated position with support if required.

2.  Hold on pool edge, moving along independently.

3.  Front float with minimal adjustment and assistance.

4.  Back float with minimal adjustment and assistance. 

5.  Blow bubbles in water with face submerged.

6.  Front torpedo from platform to instructor. (2m)


Sea Otters (3 years to 5 years)

This level is designed for advanced beginner students.

Sea Otters continue to build their water confidence and begin to develop basic swimming strokes in aims of encouraging development and providing students with the ability to extend the distance they can swim independently.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students.

An assessment is required to book for this level. 

Sea Otter Skills:

1.  Perform a slide in entry.

2.  Transition from a back float to a front float before resuming back float position independently.

3.  Front torpedo with chin on chest and straight legs kicking. (5m)

4.  Freestyle with straight arms and legs kicking. No coordinated breathing. (5m)

5.  Back torpedo with ears in the water and straight legs kicking. (5m) 

Starfish (5+ years)

A class designed for non-swimmers. Students will learn basic water skills, i.e. floating, kicking, submersion and water mobility.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students. 

No assessment is required to book for this level.

Starfish Skills:

1.  Enter and exit the water safely and confidently. Minimal instructor assistance.

2.  Front float independently for 5 seconds.

3.  Back float independently for 10 seconds.

4.  Blow bubbles in water with face fully submerged.

5.  Front torpedo from platform to instructor, including push and glide technique. (3m)

6.  Kick on back with flotation aid to instructor. (3m)


Goldfish

Advanced beginners class where students learn the fundamentals of freestyle arms and backward streamline torpedo. 

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 5 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

Goldfish Skills:

1.  Perform a slide in entry.

2.  Transition from a back float to a front float before resuming back float position independently.

3.  Front torpedo with chin on chest and straight legs kicking. (5m)

4.  Freestyle with straight arms and legs kicking. No coordinated breathing. (5m)

5.  Back torpedo with ears in the water and straight legs kicking.(5m)


Marlin

This class is a transition between advanced beginner and intermediate. Students will be introduced to the fundamental techniques for freestyle and backstroke. They will work towards swimming a distance of 10 metres.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 5 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

Marlin Skills:

1.  Front torpedo in streamline position, with chin on chest, straight arms locked behind ears and straight legs kicking. (10m)

2.  Back torpedo with straight arms locked behind ears, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (10m)

3.  Freestyle with straight arms, basic bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. (10m)

4.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (10m)

5.  Submerge and recover object from bottom of pool.


Swordfish

Students will learn the correct technique for freestyle breathing and backstroke. At this level, children will be expected to swim 15 metres of freestyle and backstroke to advance to the next levels.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 5 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

Swordfish Skills:

1.  Freestyle with arms moving consistently, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. Catch up is no longer appropriate. (15m)

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (15m)

3.  Submerge and recover object from bottom of pool.


Barracuda

The aim in this class is to develop correct technique for bilateral breathing freestyle, further development of backstroke technique and an introduction to breaststroke kick. 

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 5 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

 Barracuda Skills:

1.  Freestyle with bent arms reaching forward and pulling water, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. (20m)

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (20m)

3.  Demonstrate correct breaststroke kick with feet turned out, push of water and glide for 2 seconds.


Bronze Dolphin

Aimed at further developing freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke skills, with a progression towards swimming 25m of each stroke with good technique. Butterfly kicking technique is introduced.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 8 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

 Bronze Dolphin Skills:

1.  Freestyle with bent arms reaching forward and pulling water, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. (25m)

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (25m)

3.  Breaststroke with correct kick, feet turned out, push of water, glide for 2 seconds in streamline with arms and legs together. (25m)

4.  Dolphin kick with feet together and arms by side. (5m)


Silver Dolphin

Further development of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and Butterfly kick technique, building up to swimming 50m of each stroke.

Classes run for 45 minutes with up to 10 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

 Silver Dolphin Skills:

1.  Freestyle with bent arms reaching forward and pulling water, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. (50m)

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (50m)

3.  Breaststroke with correct kick, feet turned out, push of water, glide for 2 seconds in streamline with arms and legs together. (50m)

4.  Dolphin kick with feet together and arms by side. (15m)

5.  Demonstrate a forward somersault in the water.


Gold Dolphin

Further development of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke techniques, building up to swimming 100 metres of each stroke. Correct technique for butterfly is introduced and further developed.

Classes run for 45 minutes with up to 10 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

 Gold Dolphin Skills:

1.  Freestyle with bent arms reaching forward and pulling water, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking.(100m)

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (100m)

3.  Breaststroke with correct kick, feet turned out, push of water, glide for 2 seconds in streamline with arms and legs together. (100m)

4.  Butterfly with correct timing, breathing after every second arm movement. (25m)


Children who have completed the Learn to Swim Program levels can progress to the Centre’s Transitional Squad Program and follow on to the Junior and Senior Squad Program.

Stingray (10+ years)

A class designed for teenage non-swimmers and advanced beginners. Stingray teaches basic water skills, i.e. floating, kicking, submersion, water mobility, and correct freestyle and backstroke techniques.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students. 

No assessment is required to book for this level.

Stingray Skills:

1.  Front float independently.

2.  Back float independently.

3.  Blow bubbles in water with face fully submerged.

4.  Back torpedo with straight legs kicking and streamline body position unassisted. (15m)

5.  Kicking on back using kickboard with straight legs and streamline body position.(15m)

6.  Freestyle with demonstrated body position, appropriate kick and pull technique and working towards bilateral breathing technique. (15m)

7.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (15m)


Shark (10+ years)

A class designed for teenage intermediate and advanced swimmers. Shark will further develop freestyle and backstroke techniques and teach the correct technique of breaststroke and butterfly.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students. 

An assessment is required to book for this level.

Shark Skills:

1. Freestyle with bent arms reaching forward and pulling water, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. Catch up is not appropriate at this level. (25m)

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water. (25m)

3.  Demonstrate correct breaststroke kick with feet turned out, push of water and glide for 2 seconds. Working towards full breaststroke technique with arm movement, timing and breathing technique. (15m)

4. Dolphin kick with feet together and arms by side. Working towards correct timing and breathing after every second arm movement. (15m)

 

Adult Learn to Swim

Classes have been designed for adult non-swimmers and advanced beginners. Adult Learn to Swim teaches basic water skills, i.e. floating, kicking, submersion, water mobility and correct freestyle and backstroke techniques.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 4 students. 

No assessment is required to book for this level.

Adult Learn to Swim Skills:

1.  Front float independently.

2.  Back float independently.

3.  Blow bubbles in water with face fully submerged.

4.  Back torpedo with straight legs kicking and streamline body position unassisted. 5.  Kicking on back using kickboard with straight legs and streamline body position.

6.  Freestyle with demonstrated body position, appropriate kick and pull technique and working towards bilateral breathing technique.

7.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water.


Adult Stroke Development

These classes are for adult intermediate and advanced swimmers. Students will further develop freestyle and backstroke techniques and learn the correct technique of breaststroke and butterfly.

Classes run for 30 minutes with up to 6 students. 

No assessment is required to book for this level.

Adult Stroke Development Skills:

1.  Freestyle with bent arms reaching forward and pulling water, coordinated bilateral breathing and straight legs kicking. Catch up is not appropriate at this level.

2.  Backstroke with straight arms and hands turning correctly, stomach at top of water and straight legs kicking above water.

3.  Demonstrate correct breaststroke kick with feet turned out, push of water and glide for 2 seconds. Working towards full breaststroke technique with arm movement,

timing and breathing technique.

4. Dolphin kick with feet together and arms by side. Working towards correct timing and breathing after every second arm movement.

 

Private Lessons

One-to-one instruction recommended for students from five years of age and up of any ability. This class would suit those people who feel they need extra attention.

Semi-Private lessons are also available for students within one skill level. Please contact the centre to discuss availabilities and to arrange Semi-Private lessons. 


Private Special Needs Lessons 

One-to-one instruction for students with disabilities.

Additional documentation required from a specialist healthcare professional or NDIS to book these classes.

Transitional Squad

Duration: 1 hour

Class Schedule: Tuesday- Friday 4:00pm-5:00pm 

Junior Squad

Duration: 1.5 hours

Class Schedule: Tuesday- Friday 5:00pm-6:30pm  

Senior Squad

Duration: 1.5 hours

Class Schedule: Tuesday- Friday 5:00pm-6:30pm   

Holiday Intensive Program

The Holiday Intensive Program is an accelerated learning program consisting of week blocks of five back to back 30-minute classes.

The program is suitable for preschool and school aged children and is recommended for students wishing to kick start their learning and development.

 

Did you know?
Completing two weeks of the Holiday Intensive program is equal to attending an entire term of lessons. 

This accelerated structure assists students in kick starting their skill development and reinforcing fundamental learning techniques.
Regardless of where students are in their swimming journey, participating in the program can either assist in providing a head start to commencing a new skill level or can further build and reinforce techniques to assist them with their development in an existing level.

 

Booking Conditions:

  • Please note that discounts do not apply to Holiday Intensive Programs. 

  • Class times and levels are subject to change pending booking numbers and availability.

  • Bookings must be made in weekly blocks. 

  • No makeup lessons or credits are provided for missed lessons.

  • A credit may be requested for students who have missed three or more consecutive lessons due to major illness or injury. Applications must be accompanied by relevant medical documentation and credit application form.

  • The Holiday Intensive Program does not operate on Public Holidays.

  • Fees must be paid in full to confirm and secure a booking.

  • Students must be booked for their correct skill level.

  • In class assessments are conducted for Holiday Intensive students during class times on the final lesson of each week.

  • Active Kids and First Lap vouchers can be redeemed for weekly blocks consisting of a minimum of 5 days.
