Licence To Play
Introduction
Burwood Council’s License to Play (L2P) policy makes the area more lively and welcoming. It helps residents, businesses, and community groups trial creative ideas and events through a simpler approval process.
L2P provides the guidance and permissions needed to transform streets, laneways, and vacant shopfronts into vibrant, interactive spaces.
The program supports creative activations and streetscape improvements, making it easier to get permission, fund projects, and ensure everyone can participate, including:
Arts & Performance
- Busking
- Street murals
- Pop-up exhibitions
- Street art competitions
- Temporary installations in vacant shopfronts
Dining & Events
- Extended outdoor dining
- Parklets
- Pop-up markets
- Community events
- Designated street spaces for activations
Shopfront & Streetscape
- Funding for shopfront upgrades
- Artistic vinyl wraps for vacant shops
- Illuminated wayfinding signage
- Streetscape enhancements
Whatever your idea, from live performances and public art to dining activations and streetscape improvements, L2P provides the framework to bring it to life.
