Language Learning Online

AMES World Wide English - Learn English from beginner to intermediate level – for work, life and study in Australia and global environments

AMES Interview and Resume Skills - Learn job seeking skills to find work in Australia. Practice writing a resume and cover letter. Prepare for the interview and making cold calls to employers

Mango Languages is an online language and culture learning resource that offers access to over 70 foreign languages and 21 English courses taught completely in the user’s native language.


English Class

The Library runs a regular English language class. See the Library Events page for details. 

Books, magazines and DVDs

The Library holds a collection of books, magazines and DVDs in languages including Chinese, Korean, and Hindi. Please speak to our librarians if you are looking for material in a particular language. We can also arrange loans of books in other community languages from the State Library of NSW free of charge for members. 

Online Films and Documentaries

Burwood Library's free film streaming service, Beamafilm, includes movies and documentaries in many different languages. Just sign up with your Burwood Library card to get started. 

Digital Magazines

RB Digital offers access to the latest editions of all your favourite magazines. It's free, and you can download the issues to enjoy whenever and wherever is convenient for you. There are over 3,500 titles available from around the world, in a variety of languages, including over 100 Chinese titles. 

Visit the RB Digital site, and use your Burwood Library card number to set up an account and start downloading your favourite magazines. More information about how to download the RB digital app is here


Tech Savvy Seniors in community languages

The Library runs regular Tech Savvy Senior courses in both English and other community languages. Currently classes are held via Zoom because of COVID-19 restrictions. See our Library Events page to see when the next classes are scheduled, or email the library for more information.
