Community consultation for the Deane Street Transformation project will be open until 21 October 2025. 

Visit Participate Burwood to read about the project, complete a short survey and see a list of consultation pop-up stalls where you can give your feedback in-person to Council staff.

This project aims to transform Deane Street into a vibrant and colourful public space with alfresco dining areas, spaces for resting and play and improved pedestrian safety. This project will build on the current trial to create a permanent food and entertainment destination in the heart of Burwood.

 

Project features may include:

  • New urban pedestrian plaza
  • Shared pedestrian zone
  • Kerb extensions to allow for alfresco dining opportunities 
  • Landscaping, tree canopy shade and seating
  • Bicycle parking
  • Pavement treatment and lighting 
  • Road conversion to two-way traffic (George Street) and kerb realignment 
  •  Taxi rank relocation
