The program allows commercial operators to hire designated road spaces, like Clarendon Place and Ford Lane, for events, pop-ups, markets, and activations. It provides a structured framework to ensure safety, accessibility, and minimal disruption while activating public spaces.
Eligible applicants include commercial operators such as market organisers, retail and hospitality businesses, event producers, corporate brands, and health or wellness pop-ups operating within the Burwood LGA.
All applications must be submitted through the Bookable Streets expression of interest application form. You need to provide event details, a Traffic Management Plan (TMP), a Waste Management Plan, and proof of Public Liability Insurance (minimum $20 million). Council approval is required before the event can proceed.
Operators must:
Follow Council guidelines and approvals.
Maintain pedestrian access (minimum 1.8m) and emergency routes.
Manage traffic, crowd safety, and waste.
Notify nearby businesses and residents at least 14 days prior.
Comply with noise, environmental, and operational limits.
