Accessible Parking

Mobility Parking Permit

In NSW, eligible people can apply for a Mobility Parking Scheme permit, which allows them to park in spaces marked with the International Symbol of Access. Learn more about mobility parking permits in NSW.

When using an accessible parking space:

  • The vehicle must be transporting the eligible permit holder.
  • The permit must be clearly displayed on the dashboard or visor.
  • If the space has a time limit, it must be followed. Parking concessions do not override signposted time limits.

For full details, see NSW parking rules for mobility permits.

Accessible Parking in the Burwood Area

There are 51 accessible parking spaces across Burwood, Strathfield, Croydon, Croydon Park, and Enfield town centres.

Burwood Council has installed smart sensors in these spaces, which are connected to the NSW Government’s Park’nPay Accessibility Portal. This helps residents and visitors find available accessible parking in real time.

Use the Park’nPay Accessibility Portal to:

  • Search for accessible parking near your destination.
  • Check real-time availability.
  • Filter by time, day, and parking type.

You can also download the Park’nPay mobile app.

Apply for an On-Street Accessible Parking Space

Residents who hold a valid mobility parking permit can apply for an on-street accessible parking space near their home if they meet certain eligibility criteria.

You can apply if

  • You hold a valid NSW Mobility Parking Scheme permit.
  • You do not have suitable off-street parking.
  • You live at the address where the parking space is requested.

What’s required

  • A copy of your Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) permit.
  • A copy of your vehicle registration.
  • A letter or report from your medical practitioner or occupational therapist supporting your request.

Council reviews your request and may conduct a site inspection. If approved, an accessible parking space will be installed near your residence.

Please note: the space is not reserved exclusively for you. It may be used by any vehicle displaying a valid mobility parking permit.
