Library Membership

Membership is free, and open to all NSW residents.

  1. Complete the online membership form to get instant access to all of our Digital Resources.

  2. To receive a library card, please visit the Library with your interim online User ID and two forms of ID.
  3. Have your ID ready that shows your name and current address. For example, Drivers Licence, Rental Agreement, Bank Statement or pension card.
  4. Have another form of ID ready that just has your name. For example, Medicare card, credit/debit card, passport. 

Conditions of Membership

Using your library card and PIN, you can:

  • Borrow up to 30 items for a period of 3 weeks. Limits apply to some collections.
  • Physical items will be automatically renewed if they are not reserved, for a maximum of two times. After this period, you will need to return your items
  • Place holds for items.
  • Access our online databases and resources.
  • Download eBooks and eMagazines.
  • Access the State Library of NSW online resources.

FEES:

Some fees apply:

  • Lost or damaged items.
  • Replacement Library cards.
  • Inter Library loans.
  • Printing and photocopying.

AS A MEMBER

You need to:

  • Present your card each time you borrow items.
  • Return or renew library items on time. Once an item is overdue you will not be able to borrow any other items until all overdue loans are returned to the Library.
  • Report damaged or lost items.
  • Pay for all fees and charges you and /or your children incur.
  • Notify us of a change of address and/or contact details.
  • Always act in a polite and courteous manner to library staff and customers.

AS PARENTS/GUARDIANS of children under the age of 18, you need to:

  • Be responsible for your children's selections and use of library material and services, including access to the Internet.
  • Supervise children under the age of 12. Supervision requires that the person be within sight of the child at all times.

Your information may also be passed on to a contact centre for sending notices and to a debt collection agency in order to recover long outstanding library materials, fines or fees
