This workshop is designed to get your pen moving, explore new ideas or revisit the stories bouncing around in your mind or on your page. Through a series of prompts and short exercises, we’ll see how small fragments from our memories, experiences and sensations can spark new writing. For those who attended "Stitching the Self,” this workshop will also introduce new exercises to build on what you created or explored previously.
Writers of all levels are welcome, and no prior experience is needed. This is a relaxed space to write, reflect, and share with the group if you’d like. LGBTQIA+ writers and anyone interested in exploring identity, belonging, and self-expression are especially welcome.
About our workshop facilitator:
Arani Ahmed (they/them) is a Bengali-Australian writer living on Burramattagal land. They have been published in the print anthologies Between Two Worlds and A Little Better Elsewhere. Arani was a recipient of the inaugural Varuna House Trans and Gender Diverse Fellowship, and is completing a Masters of Creative Writing at the University of Sydney.
