Naxos Music Library

Naxos Music Library is an online music service with over 170,000 classical recordings. You can search by composer, performer, label, or category. It also has short biographies, a music glossary, opera texts, and pronunciation guides.

The database also includes a number of curated playlists covering themes like film and television scores, opera, and Grammy-nominated recordings.

Burwood Library members can access Naxos Music Library for free, along with our full range of online databases. Not a member yet? Sign up online first — membership is free and takes just a few minutes.

 

Access via the website

Log in to the library catalogue with your library card number and PIN then visit the online resource page to access Naxos Music Library.

Important: Note: A few people can use Naxos at the same time. If the site is full, try again later. Always log out when you finish so others can use it.

Creating playlists

You can start listening straight away once you're logged in — no extra account needed. But if you'd like to create and save your own playlists, you'll need to set up a separate Personal Playlist account:

  1. On the Playlists page, select Sign Up on the right-hand side.
  2. Fill out the form.
  3. An activation email will be sent to the address you provided — check your inbox (and junk folder) and click the activation link.
  4. Once your account is activated, log in to the Playlists page using your email address and password.

Naxos Music Library App

Naxos Music Library has a free mobile app, available for Apple and Android.

To use the app, you'll need a Personal Playlist account (the same one used for playlists on the website):

  1. Visit Naxos Music Library via a browser on your mobile device or computer
  2. On the Playlists page, select Sign Up on the right-hand side.
  3. Fill out the form.
  4. An activation email will be sent to the address you provided — check your inbox (and junk folder) and click the activation link.
  5. Once your account is activated, download the app and log in using your email address and password.
