In December 2021 Council received funding from The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment through the Festival of Open Streets program to partner with local businesses to close off vehicle access to the Clarendon Place laneway for a series of night time activations to create a vibrant pedestrian only space filled with cultural activations and outdoor dining options.
As a part of this grant funding and in support of the Burwood Bounce Back program, Council has commissioned Sydney Inner West Artists Nico Nicoson and Kim Siew to develop a series of floor artworks which will be installed throughout Clarendon Pace and Emerald Square.
Briefed on locations, Nico and Kim's artworks reflect the diverse Asian cultures found throughout the Burwood CBD through fun colourful designs that will guide visitors through the space and ignite a sense of play and curiosity.
