Welcome to

Burwood Council

Identified as a major centre by the NSW Government, Burwood is set to grow significantly in the next 25 years, taking advantage of the area’s strong local economy and excellent transport infrastructure.

Council is committed not only to maximising the area’s growth, but to ensuring that Burwood remains an exciting and vibrant place to live, work and visit.

We have already completed an extensive program of public works, including improvements to Burwood Park, the Avenue of Nations and surrounding street scapes.

Mayor's Message

From Cr John Faker

National Servicemen’s Memorial Service

On Sunday we held the ninth annual National Servicemen’s Memorial Service in Burwood Park on behalf of the Burwood and District Sub-Branch National Servicemen’s Association Memorial Committee and Burwood Council.

This year, we acknowledged the contribution our National Servicemen, or Nashos as we have come to know them, have played alongside the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air Force during the National Service Schemes between 1951 and 1972.

Our Community

The year in review

Council has continued to build on our recent success to provide more services and facilities to meet the diverse needs of our residents and stakeholders while remaining an efficient and fiscally responsible organisation.

In 2013-14, we placed a strong emphasis on maintaining and upgrading our local infrastructure through our extensive capital works program, improving safety in the area and providing support to all members of our community to ensure that Burwood remains the vibrant hub of the Inner West. Watch the summary of our Annual Report 2013-14.
