Streetscape improvement works have commenced on Railway Parade, between Burwood Road and Shaftesbury Road, as part of Burwood Council’s Capital Works Program. The works on Railway Parade will enhance the aesthetics, public access and amenity of this section of Railway Parade. Council will be undertaking both day and night works concurrently to minimize disruption and ensure a smooth delivery for this project.

Works include;

  • Widening of the existing footpath for improved user amenity
  • Concrete path to be replaced with Council’s pavers
  • Streetscape planting, continuing on from Railway Parade West with 6 mature Livistona australis Cabbage tree palms
  • New multipurpose poles with integrated street lighting, hanging decorative baskets and banners
  • New street furniture including seats, litter and recycle bins

Civil works have progressed well, with much of the paving already completed. The site welcomed the 6 Livistona australis palm trees which have already enhanced the area. Works have continued with the installation of the smart poles, as seen below, as well as the new light fixtures and colourful hanging baskets.

Decommissioning and removal of the existing lights on the Northern side of Railway Parade have been carried out and works will proceed to completing the new pavers to finalise this streetscaping project.
