Council Grants

Community groups with life-changing projects can take advantage of Burwood Council's Community Grants program, which has $40,000 to give to worthwhile causes.

Council is accepting applications for its 2019-20 grants, which are open to non-profit groups providing goods or services in the Burwood local government area.

A creative arts program for women and children in Burwood was one of the projects funded by the previous grants.

Milk Crate Theatre and the Women's & Girls' Emergency Centre organised acting classes for those at risk of domestic violence and homelessness.

Other recipients included Asian Women at Work - for training volunteers, the Dae Hahn Culture School choir, and cricketer Usman Khawaja’s foundation which provides free cricket lessons.

Burwood Mayor John Faker encouraged people to apply.

"I know many fantastic community organisations that do great work around our area," he said.

"This is a great opportunity to ensure they continue, or extend those efforts."

The closing date for applications is Friday 20 December.

Application forms are available through the Community section of Council's website: www.burwood.nsw.gov.au.
