Burwood Council will be directly engaging with the community with key support information and food care packages in a targeted response to the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Under the banner of a program called Burwood Cares, Burwood Mayor Cr John Faker said Council is playing an important role in an effort to keep the community safe and connected in this challenging time.

“The Burwood Cares program will be a key asset for our community during this health crisis by sharing information and helpful tips, updates on Council services and links to other agency programs and services,” he said.

“Importantly, the program will also offer direct community support including food packages to assist those most vulnerable in our community.”

The Burwood Cares Community Noticeboard on the Council website will feature information on: counselling and support, mental health crisis support, emergency services, commonwealth income support, supermarkets, staying safe during Covid-19 and things to do if self-isolating. It’ll also offer free online library resources and activities.

Using its community networks and online resources, Council will be directly engaging with the community members to see if they require a friendly phone call from Council, a community service, a food care package or information on community support services.

If in need any of these services, residents can directly visit https://www.burwood.nsw.gov.au/burwood_cares_for_our_community.html to complete and submit details.
