The safety of Burwood road users received a boost this week with Council successful in obtaining $361,950 in Transport for NSW Black Spot Funding.

Burwood Mayor Cr John Faker welcomed the funding announcement.

“This funding is a boost to our commitment to our community to provide a comprehensive road safety program for all road users,” he said.

“The works undertaken will reduce the risk of further crashes occurring at these key locations and will also deliver improvements to assist traffic flow.”

The Black spot funding targets specific road locations where crashes are occurring by providing measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts to reduce the risk of further crashes occurring.

The funded black spot locations in Burwood and Strathfield include:

  • Woodside Avenue, Burwood.
  • Norwood Street, Burwood.
  • Gladstone Street, Burwood.
  • Wentworth Road, Strathfield.

The funding is delivered by Transport for NSW as part of the Australian Government Black Spot Program.

All works are to be scheduled in the coming months with all projects to be completed by April, 2021.
