We are committed to creating a more inclusive community for all people.

The main objective of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is to ensure that people with a disability have an opportunity to fully participate in the social, community and business life of Burwood.

The plan outlines key strategies and actions that will assist in overcoming barriers to inclusion. These strategies will be incorporated into Council's planning for the next four years.

Disability Inclusion Action Plan Update

Our current DIAP was adopted by Council on 23 August 2022 and is due to conclude on 22 August 2026. As we develop our next DIAP, Council is undertaking community consultation to help shape future priorities and actions.

To ensure there is no gap between plans, Council has extended the current DIAP through to October 2026, when the new DIAP is expected to be formally adopted. This extension reflects the strong feedback from our Disability Inclusion Advisory Panel advocating for continuity during the consultation period.

Have Your Say

We invite community members, including people with disability, carers, service providers and advocates, to contribute to the development of our new DIAP. To get involved and have your say, please visit our Participate Burwood Page (link below) for more information.
