Burwood Beats featuring Shohrat

Shohrat is a Uyghur musician and a master Dutar player, singer and actor. He is an ambassador for his culture’s ancient music and has performed and recorded a CD in Japan and performed in China, USA, Canada and Germany. 

He formed the Shohrat Tursun Trio, a unique combination of Uyghur Sufi inspired songs, African rhythms and western pop sensibilities with many of their original songs having three languages and cultures entwined. www.shohrattursuntrio.com

In 2018, Shohrat was the lead performer in the Sydney Sacred Music Festival’s, Muqam Rak project. Muqam Rak debuted at the Riverside Theatres Parramatta to a sold out audience receiving many favourable reviews, including this from the Sydney Morning Herald.
