Thomas Jackson

The Botanical Garden

Celebrating Burwood’s cultural diversity and highlighting the resilience of our community, The Botanical Garden by UK-born artist, Thomas Jackson features a series of native and introduced flora common within local gardens. Nestled between these are a few local bird species that can be ‘called’ to your gardens by this array of flora.

Core to Jackson’s practice, each of the native and introduced species featured in this artwork are commonly found around Burwood in our gardens and urban landscapes. The work features a Sacred Kingfisher, male and female Superb Fairy Wrens, Grevilea, Star Jasmine, Cherry Blossom, Eucalyptus and Common Camellia. All of which can be sited around the Burwood area within gardens and parks

Audiences are invited to watch this artwork come to life throughout the two-week Burwood Culture Streets activation, and afterwards it will stay permanently for the community to enjoy.
