Draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy 

Council has prepared a draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy. The Policy has been operating for more than ten years without any implications. A recent review by the Compliance Review Committee highlighted the inclusion of some additional information. The additional information includes reference to the Footpath Activation Policy which was recently endorsed by the Compliance Review Committee for activities on public roads and footpaths.

The policy has been reviewed by internal stakeholders, however the additional information raised by the Compliance Review Committee will require the Policy to be placed on public exhibition as part of the consultation process.

The draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 8 April 2020 to Wednesday 6 May 2020. As Council's Administration Centre is currently closed the draft Policy will not available to view in person at this point in time.

Public Exhibition – Planning Proposal to restrict the subdivision of dual occupancies

Council is publicly exhibiting a planning proposal to amend the Burwood Local Environmental Plan 2012 by restricting the subdivision of dual occupancies in the R2 Low Density Residential zone to ensure each resulting lot would have a minimum site area of 400m2 and a minimum street frontage of 12m.

The Planning Proposal and supporting documentation will be available for public inspection from Wednesday 18 March 2020 to Wednesday 15 April 2020 at Council’s Administration Centre, Suite 1, Level 2, 1-17 Elsie Street, Burwood, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.45pm, and on Council’s website, www.burwood.nsw.gov.au.

The Minister has delegated the authority for the making of the Local Environmental Plan amendment to Council.

Draft Hoardings Policy 

Council has prepared a draft Hoarding Policy which aims to control the placement of temporary structures on or above a public road and will be used to assess applications lodged by the property owners, developers, builders and contractors seeking approval to erect a hoarding to enable construction or maintenance activity to occur to buildings.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO GIVE CONSENT TO A LEASE OF A CROWN RESERVE

 

In pursuance of Section 102(2) of the Crown Lands Act, 1989, it is notified that the Minister for Water, Property and Housing intends, at the expiration of 14 days after the date of publication of this notice, to give consent to a proposal by the reserve trust to the lessee specified in Schedule 1 hereunder, to grant a lease in respect of the land specified in Schedule 2, for the term and purpose specified in Schedule 3.

For a term of five (5) years with option to renew for further 2 x 5 years (total 15 years) for the purpose of Tennis courts and purposes pertaining to the game of tennis including casual hiring of courts and professional coaching and use of the clubhouse ancillary to tennis activities and any other use of the courts as agreed between the Lessor and the Lessee.

 

Local Strategic Planning Statement

 

A draft Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) has been prepared for the Burwood local government area.

The draft LSPS sets out the 20-year vision for land use in the Burwood area and identifies priorities and actions for Council to make Burwood more liveable, productive and sustainable in the future.

It sets planning priorities about what will be needed, such as homes, jobs, parks, transport and services, and also sets short, medium and long-term actions to deliver these priorities.

The LSPS was on public exhibition from Tuesday 6 August to Monday 16 September 2019. Thank you to everyone who made a submission or provided feedback through other ways. 

All submissions will be reviewed and a report will be prepared which will provide further information about the issues raised and Council’s response. 

A range of strategic background studies are also being prepared which will inform the final version of the draft LSPS and contribute to the long-term vision for Burwood.
