Prinnie Stevens from The Voice TV show will headline the entertainment for Carols in the Park at a festively-decorated Burwood Park on Saturday 7 December.

Ms Stevens, who this year returned to the talent show where she made her name, will perform a series of Christmas favourites at the family-friendly event.

A cast of musical performers will also appear on stage, Santa is expected to visit, and a fireworks finale will close the evening. Children will have plenty to see and do.

A Christmas craft workshop, petting zoo and face painting will be provided.

Burwood Mayor John Faker was pleased Council could provide the free, annual celebration at this special time of year.

"Carols in the Park is an opportunity to get your family together on a rug and enjoy great entertainment and a festive atmosphere," Cr Faker said.

"I love singing carols and it's a great way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas."

Council is installing more decorations in the park for the season, which will provide added festive feeling.

Roving performers will mingle with families, and there will be plenty to eat at the food stalls.

Carols in the Park will open at 3pm with children's activities available. Stage performances begin at 5pm.

The fireworks finale will close the night at 9pm.
