Enfield Village Opening

Burwood Council continues to build a legacy of high quality and creative spaces with the newly beautified Enfield Village being no exception.

The heart of Enfield has been transformed into a vibrant local centre that better caters to the needs of the local community and enhances support for local businesses.

“The Enfield Village is the gateway into the Burwood Local Government Area, and is an established bustling hub of shops, restaurants and cafes,” said Cr John Faker, Mayor of Burwood.

“Council has worked hard to update the area and to make it an even more colourful and welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.”

In addition to structural upgrades, Council’s beautification efforts have refreshed and energised the Village. Three major public artworks by local artists also now call Enfield Village home, with the community voting on the final designs.

Other revitalisation works from the $1.3 million project include:

  • New street hedge planting and landscaping to improve pedestrian amenity
  • More accessible paths of travel with new paving and footpath works
  • New street furniture, including places to sit and rest
  • Increased safety and access to Byer Street Carpark and lighting
  • Additional banners to add colour and vibrancy to the busy area

“I am thrilled to see Council investing in Enfield, and to see this beautiful village given even greater attention these past few months. These updates have added to the already strong sense of character present in Enfield, and I know that our community will benefit from these enhancements.”

This project was proudly funded by the NSW Government Department of Planning and Environment Public Spaces Legacy Program.
