Dongwang Fan for Pandemic Body

The winner of the 2020 Artwork of the Year Prize is Fan Dongwang for “Pandemic Body”, an Acrylic on canvas board.

The new and Emerging Artist category was won by Eleanor Dillon a student at Santa Sabina College for her work “Bush Reverie”.

Mayor of Burwood John Faker said he was delighted at the level of interest in the 2020 Burwood Art Prize with 110 submissions from artists who live, work, or study in the local area.

“This year, more than ever, we have needed our arts community to bring joy and inspiration to our lives,” he said.

“The impact the pandemic has had on the arts community has been enormous in terms of income loss which is why this year’s Burwood Art Prize is particularly significant.

“Congratulations to all the artists who entered our 2020 Burwood Art Prize. You have created artworks that will inspire, provoke and engage our community for many years to come.”

The winners and all entrants artwork’s will on public exhibition from 16 November – 27 November in the Burwood Library and Hub during Burwood Library operational hours.
