Burwood Council is delighted to open the brand new Grant Park Inclusive Play Space, an all-abilities playground in the heart of Enfield.

The $1 million playground has returned an underutilised space to active use. With a focus on accessible and inclusive equipment and amenities, the playground was designed and built with the whole community in mind.

“We are proud to be building a more accessible and inclusive Burwood,” said Cr John Faker, Mayor of Burwood. “The Grant Park Inclusive Play Space is open for everyone and we have paid special focus on ensuring that disability access is at the centre of this design.”

As detailed in Burwood Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan, Council is committed to creating safer and more inclusive environments for the whole community.

The Grant Park Inclusive Play Space project team ensured adherence to best practice accessibility guidelines within the new playground, as per the NSW Government Everyone Can Play Guidelines for creating world-class play spaces, designed to include everyone in the community.

“Thank you to our community and Burwood’s Disability Inclusion Advisory Panel in particular for their feedback and ideas in the consultation phase of this project,” said Mayor Faker. “I am confident we have created a fantastic space where families and children of all abilities can play and socialise.”

New features include:

  • Quadruple swing set with accessible harness
  • Accessible carousel
  • Accessible toilet with adult change table
  • Accessible picnic furniture with dual BBQ
  • Alphabet plaques with braille and sign language throughout site

This project is proudly funded by, and in collaboration with, the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.
