ANZAC Day Service

ANZAC Day

The ANZAC Day Dawn Service pays special tribute to all the men and women who served in all wars.

Anzac Day began in 1915 when soldiers of Australia and New Zealand stormed ashore at Gallipoli and fought for 8 long months in the Dardanelles campaign. They fought with such courage and vigour that the rest of the world took notice of these brave men and women from the lands down under.

We come together on Anzac Day to remember and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of so many men and women over such a long period. We in Australia and New Zealand have been commemorating Anzac Day, from that first Anzac Day which was held in 1916 and each year thereafter, to honour all those who had served and to remember those who paid the “supreme sacrifice”, giving their lives for their country.

For ANZAC Day 2021 in Burwood ex-servicemen and women are invited to attend a Dawn Service at the Memorial Arch in Burwood Park (corner Burwood Road and Park Avenue, Burwood) arriving at 6am for a 6.30am start. This will be a COVID safe ceremony and those attending will be required to register using the QR Code below.
