Burwood Council recently hosted the National Launch event for the 2018 Walk Safely to School Day campaign. In the week leading up to the national Walk Safe day on May 18, across five schools Burwood Council together with Burwood Highway Patrol hosted five different walks with five different schools. The annual event encourages primary school children to live healthy active lifestyles, use environmentally friendly ways to get to schools and take heed to the road safety messages of Stop Look Listen and Think.

During our launch event at Croydon Public School, more than 100 school aged students together with their family met at Blair Park and walked safely to school with a host of VIP guests including politicians, Pedestrian Council of Australia representatives, and personnel from the Centre for Road Safety.

Over the five days Burwood Highway Patrol walked with students from Holy Innocents' Primary School, Burwood Public School, Enfield Public School, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School and Croydon Public School.
