Wrap with Love - Knitting Group

Burwood Wrap with Love Group has been around for four years! Come along and join in the fun, meet new people and enjoy knitting. Everyone is welcome from expert knitters to beginners. Wrap With Love Inc. is a voluntary organisation with members knitting squares to make wraps and rugs that are distributed within Australia and worldwide to needy communities

Day:      Mondays

Time:    10.30am - 12.30pm

Venue:  Burwood Library and Community Hub Meeting Room

                2 Conder Street, BURWOOD                

Materials:   Bring 8 ply wool and 4mm knitting needles. Donations of wool and spare needles are gratefully accepted.

Burwood Library is a community drop off point for completed squares and/or wraps. For more information please contact Helen at Burwood Library on 9911 9999.

Seniors Social Group

Are you a Senior? Would you like to make new friends and improve your wellbeing? Come along and join our Seniors' Social Group, each month something fun is planned from going on outings to meeting and discussing different topics.

Council's Access Committee is made up of local residents, workers, carers and people with disabilities concerned with issues of access for all people.   • Burwood Disability Inclusion Action PlanBurwood Council is committed to creating a more inclusive community fro all people. We are preparing our first Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) as required by the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.What will the plan do? The main objective of the DIAP is to ensure that people with a disability have an opportunity to fully participate in the social, community and business life of Burwood. The plan will outline key strategies and actions that will assist in overcoming barriers to inclusion. Strategies will be incorporated into councils planning for the next four years.The DIAP will be developed based on these areas:Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours towards people with a disabilityCreating more live-able communities for people with a disabilityAchieving a higher rate of meaningful employment participation by people with a disability through inclusive employment practicesEnsuring more equitable access to mainstream services for people with a disability through better systems and processesHow you can get involvedCommunity consultation is important in developing the DIAP. We invite you to provide your feedback and ideas to assist Council in identifying the best approach to improve local assets, services facilities, programs and events to create a more accessible and inclusive community. Take the brief survey below to have your say.
