Public Exhibition of Draft Amended Planning Agreements Policy

Council has prepared a draft amended Planning Agreement Policy. This Policy was last adopted by Council in 2005. The main proposed changes to the Policy include: a more streamlined presentation, clearer statements on the outcomes that Council expects to achieve from a voluntary planning agreement (VPA), an improved statement of the process and the steps involved in a VPA, direct links to Council’s Schedule of Fees and Charges for monetary contribution rates under a VPA, and the incorporation of recent changes to the planning legislation.

The draft amended Policy is on public exhibition from 4 September 2018 to 2 October 2018 at Council’s Administration Centre, Suite 1, Level 2, 1-17 Elsie Street, Burwood, Monday to Friday 8.30am and 4.45pm, and on Council’s website, www.burwood.nsw.gov.au.

Public Notice of Draft Voluntary Planning Agreements (VPAs) - 17 Deane Street, Burwood

The draft VPA provides for the developer to pay a monetary contribution to Council for the purposes of providing, augmenting or improving open space, community facilities or other public facilities as determined by Council, in exchange for additional development on the site. The draft VPA is proposed under Development Application BD.2017.027 which involves the demolition of the existing building on the site and the construction a 23 storey mixed use development comprising of commercial suites, retail shops, a child care centre, restaurant, hotel, conference facilities and 36 residential units over basement parking.

Public Notice of Draft Voluntary Planning Agreements (VPAs) - 84-88 Burwood Road, Burwood

Two draft Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPAs) and accompanying Explanatory Notes have been prepared. A draft VPA provides for the developer/proprietor of Nos. 84-88 Burwood Road Burwood to pay a monetary contribution to Council in lieu of a shortfall of five parking spaces on site. 

A further draft VPA provides for the developer to pay a monetary contribution to Council for the purposes of providing, augmenting or improving open space, community facilities or other public facilities as determined by Council, in exchange for additional development on the site. The draft VPA is proposed under Development Application BD.2018.047, which involves construction of a nine storey mixed commercial and residential development including a club located on the ground floor above three levels of basement car parking.

Public Exhibition of Draft Woodstock Reactivation Plan

Burwood Council has drafted the Woodstock Capital Works Master Plan Issue D dated 12 July 2018 to enhance the beautification and reactivation of the site and invites community members to inspect these documents and comment upon them.

The LA131 Draft Woodstock Capital Works Master Plan Issue D dated 12 July 2018 is available for inspection from Monday 23 July 2018 to Monday 20 August 2018 at the following locations:

Public Exhibition of Draft Overland Flood Studies

Burwood Council recently completed Draft Overland Flood Studies for the Exile Bay/St Lukes /William Street Catchment, the Powells Creek Catchment, the Dobroyd Canal Catchment and the Cooks River Catchment. The purpose of these flood studies is to identify potential flood prone locations and to quantify the degree of flood risk that these areas might be exposed to. The properties identified in the studies could potentially be impacted by either Overland or Mainstream flood water.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting of 26 June 2018, Council resolved to publicly exhibit the Draft Overland Flood Studies for all of Councils Stormwater Catchments. The Public exhibition of the Draft Overland Flood Studies is your opportunity to comment on the technical aspects of the flood study.

The Draft Overland Flood Studies will be on public exhibition from 16 July 2018 to 15 October 2018. More information about The Draft Overland Flood Studies can be found by clicking here.

Public Notice of Adoption of Amendment No.4 to the Burwood Development Control Plan (BDCP)


Council at its meeting on 26 June 2018 resolved to adopt the exhibited Draft Amendment No. 4 to the Burwood Development Control Plan (BDCP).

Amendment No. 4 of the BDCP, relates to awning extensions and free-standing awnings, street numbering, parking requirements, boundary setbacks adjacent to heritage items, waste collection via rear lanes, extension of basement levels into road reserves, updates to reflect changes in legislation, as well as formatting and other minor changes.

The amended BDCP will become effective on 1 August 2018.
