Inaugural Burwood Art Prize winners announced

The Inaugural Burwood Art Prize features 75 of the best paintings from across Burwood and the inner west region.

Congratulations to the following winners who were announced at the opening of the Exhibition on Friday, 12 June. 

Artwork of the Year - $5,000 prize
Name of Artist: Andrew Tomkins
Artwork Title: Slowly Goes the Night, Werri Lagoon

Art Sustainability - $2,500 prize
Name of Artist: Ronna Zou
Artwork Title: A Beautiful Day

The entries were judged by Norma Tahhan, Internationally acclaimed artist and Owner/Director of Gallery NTK Croydon and Jenny Cheeseman, Arts Coordinator Peacock Gallery and Cumberland Council.

People’s Choice - $1,000 prize
Name of Artist: Penelope Bobbin
Artwork Title: Tub Nixawg (Youngest Son)

The People’s Choice prize was voted on by viewers of the exhibition, held during 9-18 June, 10am-4pm at Burwood Library and Community Hub (2 Conder St, Burwood). People who voted for their favourite artwork will be in the running to win one of two $50 Westfield gift vouchers.
