Cultural Diversity – Multicultural Strategy for the CALD Community in Burwood 2013-2016

Burwood Council recognises values and celebrates cultural diversity and embraces diversity within our community. The Burwood Council’s Multicultural Strategy reaffirms and will guide Council’s work in planning, service delivery and community development for its culturally diverse community.

  • Burwood Disability Inclusion Action PlanBurwood Council is committed to creating a more inclusive community fro all people. We are preparing our first Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) as required by the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.What will the plan do? The main objective of the DIAP is to ensure that people with a disability have an opportunity to fully participate in the social, community and business life of Burwood. The plan will outline key strategies and actions that will assist in overcoming barriers to inclusion. Strategies will be incorporated into councils planning for the next four years.The DIAP will be developed based on these areas:Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours towards people with a disabilityCreating more live-able communities for people with a disabilityAchieving a higher rate of meaningful employment participation by people with a disability through inclusive employment practicesEnsuring more equitable access to mainstream services for people with a disability through better systems and processesHow you can get involvedCommunity consultation is important in developing the DIAP. We invite you to provide your feedback and ideas to assist Council in identifying the best approach to improve local assets, services facilities, programs and events to create a more accessible and inclusive community. Take the brief survey below to have your say.
