  • Christmas is around the corner and to celebrate Council is bringing the holiday cheer to our community with a range of exciting events and initiatives. Council has decorated our town centres with festive garlands, and Christmas Trees welcome residents and visitors to the Burwood and Croydon precincts.

  • The festive season is fast approaching and while most will be winding down, Council will continue to deliver its services and initiatives to the community. In particular, Council is on the final stretch with the embellishment works at Wangal Park with the picnic areas and playground ready by the end of the year.

  • I have heard feedback from many residents at my recent street meetings on the importance of providing suitable green space for our residents. Council is committed to enhancing the experience for residents at our parks with a range of initiatives to provide active and recreational space for the community.

  • Since being re-elected as Mayor, I have gone to work in ensuring that Burwood remains a clean and attractive place for our residents and many visitors. In particular, I am seeking a strong commitment in our fight against abandoned shopping trolleys by urging major local shopping outlets to prevent trolleys being dumped in the area.

  • Our diverse community came together on Sunday to celebrate spring at the Burwood Festival.The event drew thousands who experienced a sensory journey in Burwood Park with live art demonstrations, performances, food and rides.

  • The warm winter’s sun set a poignant scene for the 500 attendees at Burwood Council’s Sandakan Remembrance Service on Sunday, 6 August.The service, honouring the brave Australian men who perished in Sandakan Prisoner of War camps and infamous death marches, was held at the Sandakan Memorial in Burwood Park.

  • The new financial year has now commenced and Council will be continuing to deliver an extensive range of services and initiatives to the community in 2017-18. In particular, Council will continue to build on our existing capital works program to ensure that our local infrastructure is maintained and renewed.
