Recently our community came together to celebrate our great diversity and welcome spring at the Burwood Festival. It was a fantastic day with many great activities and entertainment on offer for the whole family to enjoy.

The festival is the biggest family friendly event in the area and we have some exciting new additions to the program,along with the return of everyone's favourites including rides, animals, and the Classic Car Show and Shine.

I spend a lot of time as Mayor in the community listening to residents in order to understand what matters are most important to you. Over the past few weeks, I have held street meetings in Burwood and Croydon where I spoke with residents on a range of matters including infrastructure upgrades,local planning and exciting new projects.
Throughout my time as Mayor, I have placed a strong emphasis on ensuring that our local infrastructure is safe and accessible to all members of our community. Our extensive capital works program for the new financial year is now underway with upgrades to local roads, footpaths, kerbs and parks being undertaken.

with modern upgrades and facilities.
It is with great excitement that I announce the completion of stage one restoration works at the Woodstock Centre. The iconic community centre has been renovated inside and outside to restore the building to its original Victorian charm with modern facilities and upgrades to ensure community members can enjoy their time at the centre.
The school holidays have arrived and Council is providing a range of initiatives for children and families in our community to enjoy. The Library and Community Hub will play host to fun activities and workshops for children throughout the holiday period including a movie screening and arts and craft lessons.
The curtain is drawing on what has been a successful financial year for Council and I am pleased to advise you that we are in a strong position to continue delivering our high level of service to the community in 2016-17. Council achieved significant milestones in 2015-16 with the completion of major projects including the opening of two new green spaces in our community, the wetlands at Wangal Park in Croydon and Barbara Holborow Park in Croydon Park; the Burwood Park Pavilion; Wynne Avenue car park and stage one of restoration works at Woodstock nearing completion.
Our community recently came together in Burwood Park to pay our respects to the 280,000 Australians who took part in the National Servicemen’s Schemes from 1951 to 1972 alongside our Defence Forces. At the service, we honoured our Nashos for their selflessness; sacrificing their careers, education and livelihood and never wavering from their sense of duty to our nation.
We recently held the official opening of the Burwood Park Pavilion in Burwood Park. The event featured performances from MLC Sydney and Platinum Vocal Studios who helped kick off the opening in style.
Yesterday our community came together at our Anzac Day Dawn Service in Burwood Park to pay our respects to our service personnel past and present who have served our nation.The service commenced with a march down Burwood Road with many service personnel, veterans and members from our local community taking part.
