HSC Collection

The HSC Collection is kept behind the Circulation Desk. The books are not for loan but can be used in the library by presenting your library card to the staff at the desk. Older editions of HSC guides are put on the shelves for loan.

Current Social Issues & Current Environmental Issues

These folders contain up-to-date full text newspaper articles on social and environmental issues which are relevant to Australia. They are excellent for background material on Community Studies, Environmental Science and many other subjects. They can be photocopied or read in the library. They are located in the Reference Collection. Also if you are after information on current topical issues, which can be borrowed, look for our series of Issues in Society at 305.896 ISS
 

Online Resources

NSW HSC Online

Very straight forward guide to HSC courses. Gives a breakdown of the content of each course with useful revision notes and activities. Has virtual excursions plus speaking and listening activities for language learning. Also has a section for teachers and parents to help everyone get through the HSC.

NSW Board of Studies

This site offers past HSC papers and marking notes going back to 1995. There are also specific parts of the site which target HSC students. Find the HSC timetable here, some multiply choice practice tests and the HSC syllabus.

E-rudite HSC resources

This useful site discusses the HSC English texts and suggests other material to read on the set topic. There are useful links to discussions of texts and authors.

HSC English Navigator

Another site provided by the State Library. This one directs students how to effectively search for HSC English material using the State Library Collection and other related sites. Gives a step-by-step guide to searching different databases and websites with detailed instructions on how to get the best out of your search.

Legal Information Access Centre

Go to the Getting Started  section of this excellent law website and click on LIAC Crime Library to gain access to criminal cases with useful links to newspaper and journal articles and full text of the court decisions where available.

Inside Break

This site is a collaboration between Warringah, Manly and Pittwater library services and provides a wide array of links to both general and specific HSC related sites. Includes a calendar, blog and video clips.

 

Study Guides

Burwood Library has a wide range of study guides purchased specifically for HSC students. These can be found in the HSC Collection as well as in the lending collection. They include:

                - Macquarie Revision Guides,

                - Excel Guides in Maths, Science, Economics and other subjects,

                - plus study guides for specific English texts and films.

 

HSC Advice Line

Students can ring the advice line with any type of HSC question during the HSC period. Everything from exam times to essay writing to specific questions about HSC subjects will be answered by qualified teachers. You must quote your student number.
